How to compare two workbooks?

The DQ Assistant allows you to not only compare two Excel sheets, but also two entire workbooks.

 

How it works:

Go to the "Compare" feature and select 'Workbooks':

Follow the instructions:

  • Open a 2nd workbook

  • Open the DQ Assistant in the 2nd workbook

  • Select the workbook for comparison

​

After each step is finalized, a tickmark will be set:

Click on 'Compare' and a new window will open showing all changes. The logic is similar to comparing two sheets.

In addition, a 'Compare overview' is shown, providing an overview of all changes for each sheet:

  • Cells changed

  • Rows changed/reordered

  • Columns changed/reordered

​

In the example below, for the sheet 'Forecast calculations', 4 cells are changed and 4 rows are changed:

The user can then click on each sheet and see a detailed view of all changes. This view is the same as for the sheet comparison feature (example for sheet 'Forecast calculations' below):
