How to explore a cell (dependents and precedents)?

The Explore feature eases tracing Precedents and Dependents of any cell in an Excel sheet.

The user just needs to select a cell and click on the Precedents or Dependents button.

For Precedents, the results window is the following:

a. Selection of cell for precedents/dependents analysis

​

Shows the currently selected cell for an exploration.

 

b. Cell result

​

This shows the result of the cell as represented in the Excel sheet.

 

c. Formula

​

This part shows the formula as entered in the selected cell of the Excel sheet. Clicking on the little pen allows you to directly adjust the formula in our Add-in window.

 

d. Change between Precedents and Dependents

​

In this part, you can change between the Precedents and Dependents view.

 

f. Details on precedents (or dependents)

​

For precedents, this part shows the breakdown of the formula. The different levels of the formula are colored with the boxes in different shapes of grey. You can click on each formula input to automatically get it highlighted in the sheet and directly jump to the respective sheet/selection. The right part of the window shows the sub-results for each formula part.

For dependents (see screenshot below), this part shows all other cells which are referencing to the selected cell. By clicking on a cell, it gets highlighted in the sheet and you can directly jump to the respective location in the sheet. The right part of the window shows the results of the respective cells.
