As one of the leading medium-sized auditing and consulting companies in Germany, dhpg supports clients at 17 locations with over 900 employees. dhpg works on an interdisciplinary basis: auditors, tax consultants, lawyers and IT specialists work closely together to develop the optimum solution.
Challenge
The increasing complexity of audits, the rise in the volume of data to be checked and regulatory requirements are forcing audit firms to adapt their working methods to these challenges. Standardization and automation in audit processes are becoming increasingly important.
The need to reduce manual work and use automation efficiently is increasing. This can reduce errors and save time in important process steps. How can dhpg use digitalization to efficiently standardize important sub-steps of the audit process while ensuring high data quality in the audit?
Goals
-
Use of a tool that enables all employees to take samples in a standard process directly in Excel
-
Possibility to introduce company-wide standard parameters for taking samples and checking data quality
-
Ability to perform data quality checks quickly and easily in Excel
Solution
The "principle of one" plays an important role in dhpg's mission statement: an important component is to develop a solution for clients that is unique. In order for the dhpg experts to be able to focus on this, certain processes must be automated and standardized as far as possible, and a trustworthy (quantitative) basis must be provided in order to create a unique solution.
With the DQ Assistant, samples (Monetary Unit Sampling, random sampling) can be drawn directly in Excel as an important part of the audit process, taking into account the standard parameters defined by dhpg. Data does not have to be copied back and forth between different tools and every employee can easily use the DQ Assistant. Results documentation is created automatically and samples can be shared directly with clients.
In addition, the dhpg experts can quickly check raw data for correctness along typical data quality dimensions (missing values, inconsistencies, outliers, duplicates, formula errors).
This leaves enough time to define a unique, customized solution for the client on this basis.
